Far from battening down the hatches, Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat has urged his players to be risk-takers in Saturday's Melbourne A-League derby.
Coach Kevin Muscat has vowed to stick with the players and system that won the championship last year despite recent defeats in Auckland, Western Sydney and Perth.
Muscat said his players were frustrated at recent results and needed to regain a ruthlessness in front of goal to snap that streak against fierce rivals Melbourne City.
"We're trying to be safe ... that's not what we want to be," he said.
"We've got to take those risks because that's when we reap the benefits."
Muscat confirmed Archie Thompson would be a substitute at AAMI Park.
